Assessment and treatment of diverticulitis and its complications

Diverticulosis (pouches in the colon) becomes more common with age, affecting more than 50% of adults over 60. When these pouches become inflamed or infected, diverticulitis occurs.
Diagnosis involves CT scan and colonoscopy (usually after the acute phase has settled).
Current evidence shows nuts and seeds do not worsen diverticular disease. Dr von Papen provides personalised dietary advice based on modern guidelines.
